Candace Smith, AIA, brings over 18
years of experience to this firm, from interning under the guidance of the
late Floyd Johnson, FAIA, at the older Charlottesville firm of Johnson Craven
& Gibson to partnering to form the firm of Smith Garrett Architects
in 1990. Smith Garrett's projects ranged from small-scale residential renovations
to large-scale institutional projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
Candace Smith has since established her own firm under the title of Candace
M.P. Smith Architect, PC, specializing in smaller projects with one-on-one
contact with the client. We are a small firm dedicated to our client's needs,
with a talented staff to attend to all stages of the architectural process.
Candace
Smith has earned the following awards for projects executed as principal at
Smith Garrett Architects: Merit Award for Design Excellence "Farmhouse
Addition" and Southern Living Preservation Award, Southern Home
Awards, Primary Architect: Frazier and Associates; Addition Details: Candace
Smith (2003), AIA Central Virginia (2002). In addition Candace Smith has served
on the Albemarle County Architectural Review Board since 2001 (Chairman 2004),
was President of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Section of the AIA James River
Chapter (1995) and is a founding member of the AIA Central Virginia Chapter
(1998).
